I just finished a review meeting and I had to prepare an MoM(Minutes of Meeting) to circulate as a summary to the team .
We all have this conventional way of taking notes during meetings or lectures or may be even presentations. Moreover, we tend to forget things soon.
I do it in a different way. I just do not NOTE but I SKETCH NOTE them.
Does it Sound different? Well, it is a way of noting points in terms of Images and text.
Brain remembers things when you have a interconnection of things you want it to remember.
This sketch noting helps in making interconnection of things you see and you write.
In addition, we all know an image is worth 1000 words. Ok let me tell you that this is absolute fun way of taking notes too than those boring paragraph kinds of texts.
Many a times we get clear understanding of concepts when we draw block diagrams, draw icons, flowcharts along with the text. Isn’t it?
Ok here is the sketch note I did during 15 minutes meeting

That’s an interesting way of taking notes. On the other hand it is well known that when we need to learn something and we imagine a story (pictures) to it, we learn better or acually remember better.
Yes i found it very interesting . and you don’t need to be an expert in drawing . keep drawing something which can represent that object . so its easier

Yeah. Agree. So what I do is take a note of all important points. find keywords and then make sketch notes. Its called visual thinking .. Thanks for reading 🙂

Good post Supreet. Drawing a mind map is an interesting and easy way to remember and explain things. It is a technique recommended in some educational institutes too.
I have been practicing mind map drawing since a month now and sketch noting along with that makes it more interesting and you will think more creatively

That is so funny, because we have drawing pads which we use constantly. You learn things so much better when you can imagine them and draw them. Great post.
